how we help our men
Restoration-Focused
At A Better Way Ministries, we don’t believe real change happens in isolation.
Men don’t just need sobriety.
They need healing, structure, accountability, dignity, and a clear path forward.
That’s why our program focuses on holistic restoration — addressing the spiritual, emotional, physical, and practical barriers that keep men stuck in the same patterns.
This is what restoration looks like in real life.

Restoring Smiles.
Restoring Dignity.
Addiction has a way of stealing a man’s confidence long before it steals anything else. For many men who enter our program, broken, missing, or damaged teeth become a daily reminder of where they’ve been and a barrier to where they’re trying to go.
Through the generosity and leadership of Dr. Artie Ricaud, owner of Artie Ricaud DDS and a dedicated board member of our Ministry, men in our program receive access to life-changing dental care.
This isn't just cosmetic work, it's...

rebuilding their...

confidence.

Helping a man smile...without shame
giving him the courage to pursue employment and reconciliation.

Taking Practical Steps Toward Independence.
Freedom doesn’t happen overnight, it happens one step at a time. Many men arrive without a valid driver’s license, which limits their ability to work, serve their families, or live responsibly. We walk alongside our men as they work to restore their driver’s licenses, helping remove a major barrier to independence and stability.

One of our beloved Graduates, Jordan Phillips shares his testimony

Progress is built through accountability and follow-through.
Many men come to us facing license suspension after DUI charges, creating obstacles to steady work and everyday responsibility.
Our program provides access to DUI education and compliance support, helping men complete required steps and regain legal driving privileges so they can move forward with structure and purpose.

Restoring Body and Mind
Physical and mental health are critical to lasting change and sustainable restoration.
We work alongside trusted partners to ensure our men receive proper medical and behavioral health support, including
Healing Bridge Clinic for primary care and wellness services, and Pathways CSB for behavioral health and community-based care.

Through these partnerships, our ministry helps men address serious health challenges often
tied to past lifestyles and addiction. This includes support for diabetes management, such as access to treatment, insulin, and necessary medications, as well as Hepatitis C testing and treatment for men impacted by substance use.Men receive guidance, referrals, and follow-through so health issues are not ignored or unmanaged, but confronted responsibly, treated with dignity, and integrated into the broader work of life restoration.

Completing What Was Left Undone
Education is more than a credential, it’s a turning point.
Many of the men we serve never had the opportunity, stability, or support to finish school, and that absence has followed them into adulthood, limiting work, confidence, and direction.
We walk with our men as they pursue their GED, helping them access education, build consistency, and develop the skills needed to move forward with confidence and responsibility.

Completing their education becomes a meaningful step in restoring purpose, opening doors, and proving to themselves and others, that their future does not have to be defined by their past.

Healing the Heart
at the Root

Brother don Boykin, one of our restore your heart facilitators shares more about the class

Addiction doesn’t start with substances, it starts with wounds.
Every man at A Better Way walks through
heart-level restoration, including the
Restoring Your Heart curriculum and weekly recovery support rooted in faith and brotherhood.
We are grateful for the involvement of local church communities, including Passion City Church, who regularly come alongside the men for Celebrate Recovery gatherings and encouragement.
